Bixby Creek Bridge

The Bixby Creek Bridge is a reinforced concrete arch bridge in
Big Sur along Highway 1. It is 714 feet long, 24 feet wide, and has a main span of 320 feet. Due to its beautiful location, it is one of the most photographed bridges in the world.
Completed in 1932, the Bixby Bridge introduced car travel to Big Sur. Before the bridge was built, one would need to ride along a wagon road from
Monterey to the Big Sur river valley, which could take three days round trip.
In 1997, the bridge was retrofitted to make it more earthquake-safe.
