Colton Hall

Colton Hall in Monterey is a beautiful historic
building built by Reverend Walter Colton in the 1840s. The California State
Constitution was first signed here in 1849. Over the years, Colton Hall was
used for various purposes, including Monterey's city hall, a public school,
the county court house, the sheriff's office, and the Monterey police
headquarters. The hall has since been restored to its original condition and
now houses a museum commemorating the signing of the state constitution.
