Ubehebe Crater

Ubehebe Crater is a volcanic crater located at the northern tip of the Cottonwood Mountains in Death Valley National Park.
The crater is 4000 to 7000 years old. It is over 900 yards (800 meters) wide and 500 feet (150 meters) deep. The crater undergoes frequent steam eruptions, resuting in pits known as maars. The fallout debris creates light to dark gray cinder deposits.
There are three hiking trails in and around Ubehebe. At the rim of the crater are strong winds which can exceed 50 mph (80 km/h).
