Zabriskie Point

Zabriskie Point is a spectacular viewspot located near Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park. The terrain is known as badlands because it is so hard to traverse. The mountains were formed from erosion from high winds and water which evaporated long ago. The colors were formed from sediments from Furnace Creek Lake, which dried up five million years ago.
Zabriskie Point was named after Christian Brevoort Zabriskie, who was vice president and general manager of the Pacific Coast Borax Company in the early 20th century.
The site was popularized by the Antonioni's film Zabriskie Point from the 1960s.
