Malibu Creek State Park

Malibu Creek State Park, which is located near Malibu in Calabasas, is one of the most scenic places in the country. Established and opened to the public in 1980, the park’s more than 4,000 acres (16 sq. km.) of lush streamside territory, rocky peaks and woodland offers as escape from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Since this place is just about 25 miles (40 kilometers) from downtown Los Angeles, many people come to this area to take a breath of fresh air and commune with nature over the weekend.
The huge area of the park includes three natural preserves namely the Liberty Canyon which is about 730 acres (3 square kilometers), the Udell Gorge which is about 300 acres (1.2 square kilometer) and the Kaslow preserve with its 1,920 acres (8 square kilometers). The park is the home to some of the most magnificent animals in the natural world. Bobcats, mountain lions, mule deer, golden eagles and the southern steelhead are some of the well-known residents of this park.
There are plenty of things that you can do at the Malibu Creek State Park. This park has good bike trails that are suitable for both beginners and seasoned bikers, family campsites where you can spend some quality time with the whole family, a group campsite, a fishing area, hiking trails, horseback trails and plenty of places to swim and simply have fun under the sun. Malibu Creek State Park also has exhibits and programs and guided tours for visitors who would like to learn some new things while visiting the park.
