Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Gardens

The Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Gardens is a spectacular 38-acre (15-ha) horticultural area on Catalina Island. The vegetation is mainly local to California. The Wrigley Memorial inside the gardens honors William Wrigley, Jr., chewing gum magnate who once owned the island. The garden was the idea of William's wife Ada and was built in 1935. In 1969, the Wrigley Memorial Garden Foundation expanded the gardens, mainly emphasizing the following six varieties of plants, each endemic to the island:
- Catalina Ironwood
- Catalina Mahogany
- St. Catherine's Lace
- Catalina Live-Forever
- Catalina Manzanita
- Catalina Bedstraw
