The Tech Museum of Innovation

Located in downtown San Jose, California, is the Tech Museum of Innovation, which focuses on the effects of technology and serves as an important educational and cultural resource for visitors.
The plan to build the museum was initiated in 1978 and the construction was completed in 1990. However, the museum was opened to the public only in 1998.
Spread over an area of 132,000 square feet, this unique museum is composed of three floors with every floor having its own significance. The ground floor has the main entrance and houses a restaurant, a gift shop, a retail store selling books, IMAX Theater and a recreational arena. All the permanent exhibits of the Tech Museum of Innovation are exhibited in different theme-based galleries located on the second floor. The basement contains galleries where temporary exhibits are kept for display. Apart from these, the Tech Museum of Innovation even has an educational center where different workshops are conducted.
The principal objective of this museum is to let people explore and experience the effects of technology in their day-to-day lives, thus creating an innovator in each human that visits the facility. So as to achieve this goal, the Tech Museum of Innovation has developed around 240 creative and interactive exhibits about cutting-edge technologies influencing our daily lives. Some of the current exhibits include Imagination Playground, Silicon Workshop, NetPl@net, The Spirit of American Innovation, LifeTech, and Exploration. Apart from these, the museum also offers various online exhibits through which one can understand every thing about genetics, earthquakes, lasers, evolution, universe and even car designs and robotics.
The most significant feature of the Tech Museum of Innovation is the Hackworth IMAX Dome Theater, which was named after Mike and Joan Hackworth. A wide variety of movies including educational films are displayed in this theater. The Robert N. Noyce Center for Learning, located inside the museum offers exceptional professional development opportunities and resources that can benefit educators. The museum also conducts a wide range of interactive sessions, workshops, summer camps and forums that encourage creative exploration and better understanding.
The Tech Museum of Innovation is California’s popular destination hosting around 400,000 guests annually.
