El Capitan Theater

The El Capitan Theater was built as a playhouse in 1926 but converted into a movie theater in 1936. Orson Wells' classic filim Citizen Cane enjoyed its world premiere here in 1941. The theater was then closed for renovation and reopened the following year as the Hollywood Paramount Theater. Over the following years, the theater was purchased by several other companies, finally by Disney in 1989, who renovated the theater to its former glory. The Rocketeer premiered here in 1991 and several other Disney films have since.
