Hollywood Actors' Homes
One of the attractions of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica is not a sponsored museum or a central park at all. In fact, it is not even a particular location. It is, simply, the fact that the area, due to the lavish homes, beautiful coastal setting, warm climate, and proximity to the major Hollywood studios, is the hometown of many of the world’s biggest stars. Actors, musicians, producers, and certain celebrity heiresses all call Hollywood home. One of the most popular tourist attractions is the finding of these homes. Note that if you are planning a trip to the area, these properties can and do change hands at any time, so your best bet may be to seek out one of the local bus tours. These tours of the stars are affordable and will offer a narrated visit through the city to seek out the most famous celebrity houses. If you wish to seek your findings privately, here is a smattering of places to look. Keep in mind that some of these addresses may be in gated communities, and all of them are private property, so make sure you respect the privacy of the homeowners.
Site of one of the most notorious murders in Hollywood history is located at 10050 Cielo Dr in Los Angeles. This was the place where the followers of Charles Manson killed Sharon Tate and others in August of 1969. The original mansion, however, has been torn down, so visitors wishing to compare photographs will come up empty-handed.
Between Tower Road and San Ysidro is the new $22 million mansion of David and Victoria Beckham, featured prominently on Victoria Beckham’s new reality television show. The mansion is not well visible from either street, as it is set back from the road and accessible only through a private pathway.
513 Doheny Rd is the home of Ozzy Osbourne and family, made famous by the American television show, “The Osbournes” on MTV. Just down from that house on the opposite side of the street is one of Carol Burnett’s two Hollywood homes.
877 S. Bundy Ave is the murder site of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman, a crime that made national and world headlines with the ensuing arrest and trial of O.J. Simpson. Speaking of Simpson, his former address is located at 360 N. Rockingham Ave just about ten minutes away.
The neighborhood of Bel-Air is home to Leonardo DiCaprio, Nancy Reagan, Elizabeth Taylor, and also the site of the mansion used in the Beverly Hillbillies TV show.
