Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

When it comes to famous sports monuments, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is simply one of the best. Located inside Exposition Park and adjacent to the University of Southern California (USC) campus, this facility is the home of the USC Trojan Football team. Thousands of football fans come here to cheer for their favorite team each year.
Built in May 1, 1923, the stadium has a seating capacity of the 92,000. Its original construction is said to have cost $995,000, while later additions to the coliseum in 1979, 1993, and 1994 cost more than $100 million, with the major construction in 1994 having the biggest budget of $93 million. The major construction was made after the coliseum was badly damaged by the Northridge earthquake in January 1994.
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has a very colorful history. In fact, in 1984, this facility was declared as a State and National Historical Landmark by the State of California and the United States Government. To this date, this is the only coliseum in the world that has hosted a World Series, two Super Bowls and two Olympiads. Aside from hosting historic sports events, the coliseum also hosted some of the best known global events such as the 1987 Papal mass, the first mass of its kind ever held in Los Angeles, the 1988 Amnesty International Tour, and the Billy Graham Crusade. With its 134,254 visitors, the Billy Graham Crusade holds the all-time attendance record of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
