Los Angeles Zoo

The Los Angeles Zoo boasts 113 acres (46 hectares) in Griffith Park and features 1,200 mammals, birds, and reptiles all living in simulations of their natural habitats. Animals at the zoo include lions, gorillas, snakes, and sharks. Newborn animals can be found in the Animal Nursery, including many endangered species. The zoo also features a dimly-lit Koala House as well as Adventure Island, devoted to southwestern fauna. Since the zoo is so large, visitors should be prepared to walk long distances or else use the Safari Shuttle bus.
