Avenue of the Giants

The Avenue of the Giants is a famous 31-mile (50-km) drive on Highway 101. It is located within the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, which is one of the largest contiguous tracts of coast redwoods in the world.
The Avenue of Giants is 500 miles (800 km) long and offers the most overwhelming and breathtaking views of the giant redwoods. Along the avenue, you can find tiny towns welcoming visitors with their modified trees like the Eternal Tree House, which is hand carved, and the One Log House. You can make a stop at one the towns with magical names like Pepperwood, Redcrest, Myers Flat, Phillipsville, Miranda and Weott. Several cafes and restaurants are along the avenue where you can stop and refresh yourself. For those yearning to buy redwood memorabilia, do not forget to stop at the quaint gift shops along the avenue.
The Avenue of the Giants offers myriad activities like bike riding, camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, and camping. You can also plan a picnic, and all supplies can be bought from the shops along the avenue.
The Avenue of the Giants is the main road leading into the very heart of Humboldt Redwoods State Park, and you can also access the Eel River if you want. The Humboldt Redwoods Visitor Center is located on the Avenue of the Giants, just a few miles south of Weott. You should check out the natural history museum and the Travel Log display here. The Burlington campground is just next to the Humboldt Redwoods Visitor Center.
While driving along the Avenue of the Giants, a must-do is to stop at all the posted trailheads and access roads.
