Alta Plaza

Alta Plaza is a beautiful park in the middle of Pacific Heights in San Francisco. It has three series of steps rising from the Clay Street entrance to the top, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of much of the city, including the Haight-Ashbury district. The park also has a tennis court.

Alta Plaza gained fame from the 1972 film "What's Up, Doc?", starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal. During the famous chase scene, several cars drove down the staircase, damaging many of the steps.
