Cable Car Barn

The Cable Car Barn, also known as the Cable Car Barn Museum or the Cable Car Museum, is the powerhouse of the San Francisco cable car system. It is located in Nob Hill, near most of the running cable car lines. An elaborate system of large metal wheels wind the cable car lines along their underground paths through a system of channels and pulleys. The wheels can be viewed from above at the mezzanine level or from underground, where they run. The museum also contains some old cable cars and a gift shop.
