City Lights Bookstore

City Lights Bookstore is a famous bookstore/publishing company in the North Beach district of San Francisco. It was founded in 1953 by poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti as well as Peter D. Martin. City Lights gained fame from Ferlinghetti's obscenity trial, following his publication of Alan Ginsburg's influential poem Howl. The bookstore now specializes in world literature, the arts and progressive politics.
