Haas Lilienthal House

haas-lilenthal house

The Haas-Lilienthal House is a beautiful Queen Anne style Victorian mansion in Pacific Heights in San Francisco. It was built in 1886 for the wealthy merchant William Haas. His daughter Alice Lilienthal lived in the house until 1972, when it was turned over to the Foundation for San Francisco's Architectural Heritage. Now the house is open as a museum, complete with authentic furniture.

A series of old photos in the basement show much of the history of the house and the neighborhood, which used to have even larger mansions, which were unfortunately destroyed in the Great Fire following the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. Remarkably, the Haas-Lilienthal House survived with little damage.
