Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden

The Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden is a beautiful display of tulips in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. It is named after the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina, who reigned from 1890 to 1948. Every year, hundreds of tulips are donated by the Dutch Bulb Growers' Association. During the spring, the area is covered with an impressive variety of tulips.
The garden iis located next to the Dutch Windmill, a large windmill built in 1903 situated at the northwestern corner of the park. The Murphy Windmill, a similar windmill built on the southwestern corner of the park in 1905, is now in disrepair. The windmills were originally designed to pump water from an underground source to water the park, but were shortly thereafter made obselete and are no longer in use.
