Sutro Tower

Sutro Tower is a 970-foot (295 m) tall television and radio tower atop Mount Sutro in San Francisco. It is the tallest structure in the city, surpassing the Transamerica Pyramid, which stands at 853 feet (260 m). Sometimes during the summer, it can be seen from a distance as the only structure rising above the fog. It was built from 1971 to 1972 and began its first transmission in 1973. Access to the tower is restricted to authorized personnel, but tourists can enjoy a beautiful view of the city from nearby Twin Peaks.
