de Young Museum

The M.H. de Young Memorial Museum, more commonly known simply as the de Young Museum or the de Young, is a very impressive art museum in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The museum opened in 1895, but the original building was severely damaged from the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, so it was rebuilt and reopened in 2005. The new building has a 144-foot (44 m) observation tower, which provides some spectacular views of much of the park, including the nearby California Academy of Sciences.
The de Young features several impressive sculptures as well as American decorative pieces, textiles, and paintings from the Rockefeller Collection of American Art. The European Art, which was originally featured in the old building, has since been moved to the Legion of Honor.
