Centro Cultural Tijuana

The Centro Cultural Tijuana or the Tijuana Cultural Center is the most important and representative cultural space in the northwest of Mexico. The Centro Cultural Tijuana is not just popular for its striking architecture but also for hosting a number of cultural events for the general public from Mexico and the U.S.
The Centro Cultural Tijuana has exposition halls, theater and Omnimax where artistic production from international, national and regional artists is showcased. The Centro also has a walkthrough museum highlighting the history of Mexico along with exhibits from number of regions of Mexico.
The Centro Cultural Tijuana also has a concert hall, bookshop, café and courtyard. It is an active learning center besides being a history museum. Though many people do not visit the Centro Cultural Tijuana, it is worth the time and effort. The museum within the Centro Cultural Tijuana is especially enticing because the pathway through the walk-through museum begins with a scaled version of ancient Aztec temples and ends with culture of various regions of Mexico. The museum has many historical artifacts on display and the plaques accompanying the artifacts explain the event or timeline.
The Centro Cultural Tijuana’s shape is very distinctive. It is ball-shaped and it is within this building that the Imax theater is present. The Imax theater takes your breath away as you soar over the pyramids and the beaches of Acapulco and Cancun.
The Centro also hosts ballet, classical music and theater. However, for the theater, it is important to understand Spanish as all performances are in Spanish. The Centro Cultural Tijuana also has a bookstore where you can learn about the history of Tijuana and if you are lucky you will find a free art exhibition in the store.
