The Del, as the hotel is popularly known among the locals, is a National Historic Landmark, is over 115 years old and has many fascinating stories associated with it. Hotel del Coronado has been visited by Marilyn Monroe for the filming of the movie Some Like It Hot and if local legends are to be believed, the hotel has its own resident ghost, the ghost of Kate Morgan resides in Hotel del Coronado.

The hotel was built in 1888 and it became a National Historic Landmark in 1977. Hotel del Coronado offers visitors contemporary luxury set amidst Victorian atmosphere and ambience. The hotel is a perfect vacation destination for a family vacation with number of recreation activities including teen and children’s programs.

Story dreamed of building a seaside resort that would be the most popular in the Western world. Their dream has come true because Hotel del Coronado has ended up becoming a living legend.

Then U.S. Presidents have visited the Hotel del Coronado and one of the most famous visitors was Prince of Wales of England. The Prince went on to become King Edward the VIII only to abdicate his throne in 1936 to marry Wallis Spencer Simpson, a Coronado divorcee. Many believe that King Edward VIII and Simpson met while he visited the Hotel del Coronado in 1920.
