La Jolla

la jolla sunset

La Jolla is a beautiful destination with a spectacular coastline, extremely good shopping destination with great restaurants and tons of art galleries. It is the ideal place to stay and explore all the other attractions that San Diego has to offer. This picturesque town is just a 15-minute drive from Mission Valley.

La Jolla is famous for its art galleries. The Museum of Contemporary Art can be found on Prospect Street which is just a few blocks south of La Jolla Village. The museum is on a cliff and overlooks the ocean. Then there is the famous La Jolla Playhouse Theater and you can spend a relaxing evening there.

La Jolla’s coastline is much spoken about. You have the choice of walking along Coast Boulevard and watching pelicans skimming the surface of the gentle waves or roasting on the sandstone cliffs. If you want to see a family of seals lazing on the shore, all you need to do is go to the Children’s Pool Beach.

Scripp’s Park is popular with children and adults and there you can find the famous La Jolla Cove and enjoy the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. La Jolla has not forgotten the kids and La Jolla Shores, which is off Torrey Pines Road, is a great beach with a boardwalk and play area.

Whether you are looking for Mexican, German, Thai or Indian cuisine, La Jolla’s restaurants have them all, or you can opt for casual dining with pizza, waffles and hamburgers.

La Jolla’s fantastic weather has been drawing tourists and visitors from 1880s and you get all the information about the local attractions by visiting the La Jolla Visitor Center on Herschel and Prospect. La Jolla is quite similar to the French Riviera and has a similar ambience about it.
