Tijuana, Mexico, has so many activities to offer its visitors that it can be extremely mind boggling. It does not matter where you go, there is something interesting to do. The best part is that there enough activities in Tijuana to keep adults and children occupied right through their vacation. Tijuana is definitely a vacation paradise.

Tijuana is located in the northwest corner of Mexican Republic in the State of Baja California and the freeway close to the neighboring city of San Diego in California. Tijuana is also a popular tourist destination because of its Mediterranean-like climate right round the year with the average temperature being around 21°C.

Tijuana is situated in the region that was once inhabited by the Kumeyaay Indian. This tribe was Yuman speaking and they were primarily hunters and gatherers. The first Europeans arrived in Tijuana in 1542 when explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo from Spain.

Tijuana has a sizeable and extremely active independent artist community who are extremely popular in the international art circuit. That is why it does not come as surprise to learn that Tijuana has earned the title of one of the most important new cultural Meccas. Strange New World, an exhibition of Tijuana’s current art scene is traveling across the U.S. in 2007 and it is curated by the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

The Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) is a combination of a theater, lecture rooms, video rooms, library, exhibition hall, Museum of Californias, a futuristic planetary movie theater and a restaurant. The Center has hosted the Orchestra of Baja California since 1992 and it houses the headquarters of the Center of Scenic Arts of the Northwest and Hispanic American Center for Guitar.

Another popular cultural center is La Casa de la Cultura which is made up of a school, theater and a public library. This Center teaches dance, painting, music, plastic arts, photography and languages.

The Agua Caliente Racetrack is the most popular as it is open to the general public. The Parque Morelos in Tijuana houses a small zoo and park. While the Parque de la Amistad has a pond, a running track and a dirt-bike track. Parque Teniente Guerrero is well worth a visit. It is located in downtown Tijuana and has a public library with clowns entertaining the crowds at weekends.

Tijuana also has number of shopping mall with the most popular one being the Plaza Rio which is just few minutes from the U.S. border. The mall also has two movie theaters and a Sanborns restaurant besides a number of shops.
