Larimer Square, situated in the downtown historic district of Denver, is a stylish, charismatic, and completely irresistible package of shopping, nightlife, and dining. It began as the city’s very first block and today, it is the most sophisticated and prestigious area in Denver. Situated between 14th and 15th Streets, along the Cherry Creek River, Larimer Square is just a few blocks away from the major attractions in downtown. For instance, it is merely 2 blocks from the Denver Performing Arts Complex, three blocks from the famous Colorado Convention Center, and just two minutes from Coors Field.
Larimer Square is also well known for its regionally elite, chef-driven restaurants that have made it the hottest restaurant neighborhood in town. A wide range of cuisines, from modern Mexican to Latin fusion, authentic French to inspired Mediterranean, and serious sea food to sumptuous steak, is offered at these restaurants. In addition, a number of boutiques and shops, which lend an individualized hand to each and every customer, are found in this area. These include a large collection of jewelry, clothing, and home stores. Over 200 different fashion lines for men and women are carried here. The latest fashion brands available in Larimer Square include Tracy Reese, Vivienne Tam, True Religion, J. Lindbergh, Ted Baker, and Morphine Generation. Lower Downtown, popularly known as LoDo, is the oldest settlement of Denver, Colorado. In fact, LoDo is the original city of Denver, established by William Larimer in 1858. This historic district is well known for its nightlife and is also considered to be a shopping paradise. LoDo, often defined as the Union Station neighborhood, is situated in north-central Denver, near the confluence of the South Platte River and the Cherry Creek. It was designated as a historic district in 1988.
Today, LoDo is a young and dynamic neighborhood filled with stores, bars, art galleries, restaurants, and clubs. The Pepsi Center to the south of the neighborhood and Coors Field to the north, have turned this area into a sport fan’s paradise. Other major attractions in this area include the Wynkoop Brewing Company and the Union Station. Larimer Square and the Lower Downtown are the hottest places in Denver and are not worth missing.
