There are two most spectacular waterfalls in the City of Ouray. The Box Canyon Falls, situated on the southwest side of the city, is one of the two. This 50 ft (15.24 m) magnificent waterfall can be reached by car via southbound Highway 550. One can also hike the labeled trail from the nature center to reach the Canyon. The hike to the Box Canyon takes nearly 0.5 hrs.
The access fee to these falls is merely $3 per adult. There is a metal walkway at the entrance of the Canyon. Visitors can either enjoy the breathtaking views of the Box Canyon Waterfall from the walkway or descend the stairway down to the base of the waterfall. At the base, the temperature is 20 degrees lesser than the outside temperature. The best seasons to visit this great waterfall are spring, fall, and summer. The Cascade Waterfall and the Box Canyon Falls are a “must-see” in Ouray, Colorado.
