The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, situated in Canon City, Colorado, is the most frequently visited Wildlife Park and theme park in the Pikes Peak region. This magnificent park has also been designated as a Historical Landmark. It offers a unique combination of human achievement, natural adrenaline, and scenic beauty. It is well known for its natural attractions that include world's longest single-span Aerial Tram, the world's highest Suspension Bridge, the world's highest Sky Coaster, the newest thrill ride, and the world's steepest Incline Railway. The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park encompasses an amazing area of nearly 360 acres (1.4 sq. km.) and is, no doubt, a classic Colorado family vacation destination.
The Royal Gorge Bridge, the world’s highest suspension bridge, floats at an elevation of 1,053 ft (320.9 m), above the spectacular Arkansas River. This wonderful bridge offers a memorable quarter mile (0.40 km) journey through the clouds. Another favorite tourist attraction here is the Wapiti Western Wildlife Park, where a number of magnificent animals can be spotted in their natural surroundings. Other main attractions in the Park include the Cliff Walk, the Inspiration Point, the Petting Zoo, the Mountain Man Encampment, the Water Clock, and the Royal Gorge.
The Park also offers nearly 21 exciting rides such as Burro Rides, Carousel, Mule Team Wagon Rides, Silver Rock Railway, Trolley, Royal Rock Sky coaster, Incline Railways, and Aerial Trams. The most favorite recreational activity in the Park is Whitewater rafting. The Park also hosts a number of shows. These include the Gazebo, Pavilion Shows, and the shows featured by the Plaza Theater. Lodging facilities are made available at the Bighorn Mountain Top Lodge.
