Breckenridge, situated in the Summit County, Colorado, is a 148-year old Victorian City. It is home to the world-class ski resort, the Breckenridge Ski Resort. This Resort is owned and operated by the Vail Resorts, and it encompasses nearly 2,043 acres (8.27 sq-km) of skiiable area. It observes an average annual snowfall of 300 inches (762 cm). It features as many as 29 lifts and a maximum vertical drop of nearly 3,398 ft (1035.7 m).
The main lifts at the Resort include 2 high-speed 6-passenger Super Chairs, 7 high-speed quad lifts, 1 triple lift, 4 surface lifts, 6 double lifts, 8 carpet lifts, and one 8-passenger Gondola. The Breckenridge resort comprises of 4 interconnected mountains. The Resort also offers great facilities for snowboarding, sleigh rides, and snowshoeing. In fact, it was the first resort to host the snowboarding world championships. Today, it is known for world-class pipe, park, and snowboard programs.
The major attraction in the Breckenridge Ski Area is the Lake Chutes, which can be accesses from the top of Peak 8. However, the terrain in this region, with an incline of 50 degrees, is considered to be the steepest in the Resort. The Colorado Ski Town is also home to a number of shops, bars, hotels, historical monuments, and restaurants. Breckenridge is a perfect winter holiday destination for families as well as for expert skiers. This Ski Resort is a year-round resort and offers a public golf course and 100 miles (160.9 km) of paved biking trails in summer.
