Copper Mountain is situated in the Summit County, nearly 75 miles (121 km) west of Denver, Colorado. Known for its wide variety of naturally segregated terrain, Copper Mountain is a world-class ski resort. At present, it is owned and managed by Intrawest. It encompasses 2,433 acres (9.85 sq-km) of skiiable area that features intermediate slopes in the center, beginner slopes to the west, and advanced/expert terrain to the east. The Resort also includes 2 peaks named the Copper Peak and the Union Peak. These Peaks are over 12,000 ft (3657.6 m) high and offer the advanced “double black diamond” slopes with 4 expert bowls: Union Bowl, Copper Bowl, Resolution Bowl, and the Spaulding Bowl. Copper Mountain Resort is the largest in the Summit County and is a favorite with the locals.

The excellent terrain at this Resort is suitable for snowboarders and skiers of all levels. The Resort has 23 lifts and 125 trails. 21% trails are meant for beginners while 18 % are designated as “expert”. ‘American Eagle’ and ‘American Flier’ are the two most popular quad lifts servicing Center Village. The terrain accessible by these lifts feature Copper’s Super pipe, a combination of green and blue runs, and a premier terrain Park called the ‘Catalyst’. Other activities offered at the Resort include snowshoeing, snow tubing, and snowmobiling.

The closest towns to the Resort are Frisco and Silverthorne. The dining, entertainment and lodging facilities at Copper Mountain are divided into three main villages: The Center Village, the East Village, and the Union Creek. These Villages are home to plenty of hotels, bars, shops, and restaurants. Copper Mountain is often called "the most nearly perfect ski mountain in the United States" and is perhaps the best place to hit the hill with family and friends.
