General Information

The peninsula state in the southeastern part of USA, Florida is the land of beaches and unlimited entertainment. Home to Walt Disney World Resort, one of its kind recreational resorts in the entire globe, Florida thrives on tourism, its biggest industry. Its nickname, the sunshine state, is a perfect reflection of the life here, sunny all the time.

Being close to the ocean bestows a large part of Florida with a humid subtropical climate. Tallahassee is the capital city with Jacksonville being the largest city. Florida’s most popular destination is of course the metropolitan city of Miami that has a rich history and culture coupled with exciting beaches and nightlife. The city of Orlando which is the land of Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and attractive water parks also draws flocks of visitors.

The trademark glittering white sand beaches of Florida are admired world over for their natural splendor and amenities. Beaches also cater to varied tastes and therefore tourists can choose from family beaches, eco-tourism beaches, fishing and boating beaches, scuba diving and surfing beaches among others, based on their interests.
Florida is also home to ancient sites with historical importance. 39 locations in the state are designated as National Historic Landmarks. Castillo de San Marcos’, a fort built in 1672 by Spanish colonials in the town of Saint Augustine, preserves the Spanish connection through a series of well maintained exhibits. Fort Pickens in Pensacola Beach and Fort Clinch in Fernandina Beach are other great locations. Over 350 museums catering to different segments such as History and Culture, Science, Archeology, Art and Sports among others are spread across Florida. A special mention of The Florida Museum of Natural History - Gainesville, Morikami Museum and Japanese Garden - Delray Beach, the Salvador Dali Museum - St. Petersburg and The Mennollo Museum of Art - Orlando is a must.
