Boca Raton Museum of ArtThe Boca Raton Museum of Art, situated at Mizner Park in Boca Raton, Florida, epitomizes the ‘ripple effect’ and the cultural impact of the arts in small towns across America. The Museum was established in 1950 as ‘The Art Guild of Boca Raton’. It was given its current name in 1985. The museum building at Mizner Park opened to the public on January 24, 2001. At present, the museum shares its 5.7-acre (2.3-hectare) site with an outdoor amphitheater. The new 44,000 sq-ft (4087.6 sq-meters) facility of the Museum provides ample space for exhibition, education and collection galleries, and public meetings. Besides the permanent and traveling exhibitions, the museum also houses an educational gallery, a Grand Hallway, a large catering kitchen, and an expanded sculpture garden. It also hosts several lectures, film & video series, special events, children and family programs, and social gatherings. The Museum also operates an Art School, featuring a faculty/student exhibition gallery; eight classrooms; a faculty/student lounge area; an art supply store; and a variety of other support facilities. The Boca Raton Museum of Art is one of the leading cultural institutions in South Florida, attracting over 200,000 visitors every year to its galleries and programs. Over the years, it has played an integral role in enhancing the economic, educational, and cultural vitality of Boca Raton, and is certainly worth a visit.
