Red Reef ParkRed Reef Park, situated in Boca Raton, Florida, is a 67 acre (0.27 sq-km) public park owned and operated by the City of Boca Raton. It is located on the oceanfront and is best known for its 20-acre (8-hectare) Gumbo Limbo Environmental Education Center. The Red Reef Park is a popular surfing area on the south end. Other major recreational activities at the Park include swimming, fishing, surf casting, strolling over the dunes, and sunbathing. Fishing is, however, not allowed when bathers are present on the beach. The most impressive feature at the Red Reef Park is a man-made reef, located nearly 10 feet (3 m) offshore. This spectacular reef offers beautiful sights of turtles, tropical fish, stingrays, and eels to the beginning snorkelers. The main facilities offered to the visitors include showers, picnic pavilions, restrooms, grills, and playgrounds. However, there are no restaurants or cafes located nearby. Alcohol and pets are not allowed on the beach. The Red Reef Park is primarily a day-use area and no trailer camping is allowed here. A large variety of small birds and more spectacular web-footed birds can be commonly spotted in the heavy foliated areas as well as on the ocean side of the Park. The most popular attraction nearby is the Spanish River Park, situated just a mile (1.6 km) north on A1A. Red Reef Park is a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life and is certainly worth a visit.
