Pa-hay-okee OverlookThe Pa-hay-okee Overlook, situated in Everglades, Florida, is a 12-foot (3.7 m) tall tower at the Shark River basin. It offers breathtaking views of the vast wilderness surrounding the area. The 0.25 mile (0.4 km) (round trip) Pa-hay-okee Overlook Trail forms a spectacular loop along a boardwalk. The raised observation platform on this scenic boardwalk loop offer spectacular vistas of the surrounding Everglades national Park, commonly referred to as the “River of Grass”. The Trail begins just 13 miles (21 km) from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center at the main park entrance and is wheelchair accessible. Hiking and wildlife viewing are the main activities in this area. However, fishing, camping, and biking are strictly prohibited. Despite these restrictions, the scenic Pa-hay-okee Overlook and the Pa-hay-okee trail are truly worth a visit.
