Museum of Natural History of the Florida KeysThe Museum of Natural History, situated in Marathon Florida, is the best place to explore the past of the Florida Keys and have a glimpse of another side of “wildlife” on these islands. This Museum and the Florida Keys Children’s Museum together constitute the dual attraction known as ‘The Museums of Crane Point”. Located at the traffic light in Marathon, within a 64 acre (0.26 sq-km) thatch palm hammock, the Museum of Natural History features several miles of nature trails, wild bird rescue center, and the Historic Bahamian Conch House. A number of trolley tours and guided group tours are also made available at the Museum. The major attraction at the Museum is the fascinating Shell Exhibit. The various other exhibits, dioramas, and artifacts at the Museum offer plenty of information on the major land forms of the region, the environment and the fragile eco-system of the Keys, and the positive and negative effects on the environment due to mankind. The Museum of Natural History of the Florida Keys offers a great learning experience and is a ‘must-see’ for all those who visit Marathon Florida.
