BarnacleBarnacle, situated in the heart of the Coconut Grove Village in Florida, is the oldest house in Miami. Now a popular museum, Barnacle was the former home of Ralph Middleton Monroe, a naval architect and Florida’s first snowbird. Located on 5 acres (0.02 sq-km) of hardwood and landscaped lawns, this magnificent mansion is best known for its tranquil surroundings, period furnishings, and wide porches. Barnacle also hosts monthly moonlight concerts, featuring folk, blues, or classical music. Barnacle is easily accessible by automobile. Guided tours of the lush landscape and the historic home are also made available to the visitors. The exhibits put on display at Barnacle offers the visitors a glimpse into South Florida’s prosperous past, its rich culture, and the blossoming heritage.
