Chestnut Grove VillageChestnut/Coconut Grove Village, popularly known as “The Grove”, is the oldest settlement of South Florida. Established in 1873, this serene village reflects the eclectic origins of its pioneers. It is well known for its posh estates, which feature rustic cottages, stark modern dwellings, and modern frame homes. The historic center of the Coconut Grove has an urban and upscale tone. Situated 10 minutes south of downtown Miami, on the shores of Biscayne Bay, The Grove is considered as the trendiest neighborhood and a thriving artist’s community. It is also well known for the annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival, which is held in February every year. This premier outdoor fine arts festival attracts more than 300 internationally acclaimed artists from all around the globe. It features a children’s area, a fine cuisine, and a wide variety of live entertainment. Other popular festivals and events hosted by the village include the King mango Strut Parade and the Commodore Block Party. The Grove Village is also home to a number of historical attractions, such as the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. Coco-Walk, an open-air Mediterranean style mall in the village, houses a number of elegant restaurants, boutique shops, and a large movie theater. The historic Coconut Grove Playhouse, a popular South Florida landmark for over 75 years, is yet another tourist attraction in ‘The Grove’. The Chestnut/Coconut Grove Village offers a cosmopolitan village setting with state-of-art bars, nightclubs, and art galleries, and is a place well worth a visit.
