Collins and Washington Avenues

Collins Avenue (State Road A1A), formerly known as the Atlantic Boulevard, was Miami Beach’s first paved road suitable for automobiles. It is the traffic artery of Miami Beach and is often referred to as the ‘Strip’. It is flanked by a number of popular Art Deco buildings, including Tiffany's; Fairmont, with a famous café-G terrace; the Franklin; Essex House, one of Hohauser's most interesting buildings in the Nautical Modernism style; the former Hoffman's Cafeteria, which became the Club Ovo and China Club; St Moritz tower block; the Surf comber Apartment Block; Greystone; and the Haddon Hall. Besides, Collins Avenue also features some of the largest Art Deco hotels, such as the Ritz Plaza, the National, and the Delano. The most popular nightclubs along the Collins Avenue include Mynt and Rokbar.

Washington Avenue, on the other hand, is the main shopping artery on the Miami Beach. The major attractions along this street include the City Hall, the Jewish Museum, and the Convention Center. Washington Avenue is also considered to be the principal business street in Miami Beach. It is home to a large number of Art Deco structures, including the Taft Hotel, the Old City Hall, the George Washington Hotel, the Kenmore, and the Main Post Office. The Washington Avenue also features the world’s largest nightclubs, Crobar and Mansion. Collins and Washington Avenues reflect the culture and heritage of the city and are certainly worth a visit.
