Coral Gables Congregational ChurchCoral Gables Congregational Church, situated in Coral Gables, Florida, is a historic church dedicated on April 5, 1925. Designed by renowned Chicago architects Kiehnel and Elliot, this magnificent building was the first public building and the first church to be established in the City of Coral Gables. Known for its unique Spanish revival architectural design, this building has been wonderfully preserved, with its original interiors still intact. This Congregational Church was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 10, 1978. This church has been designed as a replica of the famous church in Costa Rica. The most prominent feature of the church is the Baroque belfry, a sculptural program over its main entrance. The Church premises also feature a fellowship hall, a Sunday school building, and the Moye Chapel. The administrative wings were added to the church building in the early 1960s. This 450-seat congregational church has been the venue for a series of eight summer concerts, founded by University of Miami administrator, Dr. Paul Blaney, since 1985. These summer concerts feature a number of jazz, classical, and other types of musicians. Located across the street from the famous Biltmore Hotel, this spectacular Spanish-style church is also a popular venue for weddings. It also hosts author readings sponsored by Books & Books.
