DowntownDowntown Miami is considered to be the central business district of South Florida. Biscayne Boulevard is the main north-south road in downtown, and Flagler Street is the main east-west road in the area. Downtown comprises of four major districts-the Central Business District, Uptown, Park West, and Brickell. Uptown, the northernmost area in downtown is further sub-divided into 3 sub-districts, including Midtown, Omni, and Wynwood. Brickell, on the other hand, is divided into Lower and Upper Brickell. Park West and Uptown are separated by the Dolphin Expressway, while the Upper and Lower Brickell are split apart by the Broadway. The spectacular Miami River separates the Central Business District from Brickell. The primary mode of public transportation in the downtown area is the Metromover train system, which runs 3 lines through downtown-the Brickell loop, the Omni loop, and the Downtown Loop. The Metrorail, the heavy rail system of the Miami-Dade County, has three major stops in this area and is a vital part of downtown life. Downtown is also a major tourist attraction in Miami. The main points of tourist interest in downtown include the American Airlines Arena; the Bayfront Park; the Bayside Marketplace; the Dade County Courthouse; Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts; Fort Dallas; Freedom Tower; Guzman Center for Performing Arts; Historical Museum of Southern Florida; Miami Art Museum; and Midtown Miami. Park West is also home to a number of night clubs. Downtown Miami has a lot to offer to its visitors and is definitely worth visiting.
