South BeachSouth Beach, a well-frequented section of Miami Beach, Florida, was first established in 1910. Today, this area is home to hundreds of boutique hotels, museums, live performance venues, nightclubs, and restaurant that make it a major entertainment destination in Miami. Certain designated parts of the South Beach permit topless sunbathing as well. Another impressive feature of this area is the large number of colorful and unique lifeguard stands, still used by the lifeguards of South Beach. The main neighborhoods of the South Beach include the Flamingo Park, Flamingo West, and the Collins Park. The most popular streets in the area include the Lincoln Road, best known for its open air pedestrian promenade, the Lincoln Road Mall; Ocean Drive, the easternmost street, featuring several prominent nightspots, restaurants, the Carlyle Hotel, and Gianni Versace’s Ocean front mansion; Collins Avenue; Washington Avenue; Espanola Way; and the Alton Road. South Beach is best known for its nightlife. With more than 150 nightclubs, it has a vibrant club and bar scene. South Beach is major tourist destination and is a great place to enjoy and relax.
