‘Silver Springs’, situated in Marion County, Florida, is a U. S. populated place and spring to the east of the City of Ocala. It forms the headwaters of the spectacular Silver River, which drains into the Ocklawaha River of the St. Johns River System. Silver Springs is also the site of the world’s largest artesian spring formations, producing over 550 million gallons of pure water every day. The scenic beauty of Silver Springs has attracted thousands of visitors from around the globe since the mid-19th century.
The most popular tourist attraction at Silver Springs is the Silver Springs Nature Theme Park, which was established by Carl ray and W. M. Davidson in the 1920s. This theme park is best known for its native animal exhibits and exciting glass bottom boat tours. The popular Glass Bottom Boat Tours of the springs started in the late 1870s. Another major attraction nearby is the Silver River State Park.
Also situated in Silver Springs is ‘Wild Waters’, a well-frequented water park, established in 1978. Other points of tourist interest in the area include the T. W. Randall House, the Western-themed Six Gun Territory, and the Prince of Peace Memorial. The T. W. Randall House has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The other two attractions are not opened to the public. They were closed in 1984 and the mid 1970s respectively.
