Apollo/Saturn V Center

apollo saturn v center

The Apollo/Saturn V Center is the one of the major attractions at the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida. This spacious facility is dedicated to the Apollo astronauts and the machines that took them to the Moon and brought them back safely. The Center brings back to life the significant Apollo program and provides an encouraging and offers an inspirational and invigorating glimpse into the U.S. space program’s missions to the Moon. The exhibits and the films featured at this 100,000 sq-ft (9290 sq-meters) Complex portray the exhilaration of the building and testing the huge Saturn V Rocket, the training of the astronauts, the achievements and impediments along the way, and the eventual success of landing on the Moon and returning back safely to Earth.

The major attraction at the Apollo/Saturn V Center is the 363-foot (111-m) tall Saturn V rocket. This massive, authentic rocket is one of the only three moon rockets in existence and is considered to be the most powerful rocket ever built on planet Earth. The Center also houses a Firing Room Theater, which stimulates the environment of the original firing room during a launch, as it existed during the Apollo era. The theater’s multi-screen presentation, reflecting the energy and ambiguity of the lunar landing missions, draws the audience into the drama of Apollo.

The Apollo/Saturn V Center also houses another theater, named as the ‘Lunar Surface Theater’. It sensationalizes the most significant moment of the flight of Apollo 11, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first walked on the moon in 1969. The trip to the Kennedy Space Center is incomplete without a visit to the Apollo/Saturn V Center. This Center is the most frequented site at KSC and is a ‘must-see’ for visitors of all ages.
