Cape Canaveral: Then & Now Tour

cape canaveral: then & now tour

Cape Canaveral: Then & Now Tour is one of the two special tours offered by the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Unlike the standard KSC bus tour, the Cape Canaveral Then & Now special tour is led by space program experts. This personally-guided tour takes the visitors on an in-depth journey through Cape Canaveral’s 50-year history of space exploration. This extraordinary tour not only throws light on the early days of space exploration, but also takes the guests to rare historical sites, which are otherwise not accessible to the public.

Cape Canaveral Then & Now tour is the best way to travel back in time to the authentic NASA launch sites of the Gemini, Mercury, and Apollo programs, which paved the way for today’s space exploration. The main stop of this tour is the Air Force Space & Missile Museum, where visitors can experience the launch of the first satellite of America. Other major stops include the Apollo Launch Pad 34, the site of the tragic Apollo 1 fire; and Alan Shepard's Mercury training facility at Hanger S to Launch Complexes 40/41 from which the Cassini Saturn, Viking Mars Landers, and Voyager probes were launched. The tour finally concludes at the popular Apollo/Saturn V Center.
