The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, situated in Winter Park, Florida, is one of the major tourist attractions in the State. Established in 1942 by Jeannette Genius McKean, this museum was formerly known as The Morse Gallery of Art. Today, it is owned and managed by the Charles Hosmer Morse Foundation and is funded by Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation. The Museum is well known world-wide for its unique collections pertaining to the American art. It holds the world’s most comprehensive and the largest collection of the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany. It also houses extensive collections of late-19th and early 20th century American graphics, paintings, and decorative arts, as well as a major collection of American art pottery.

The Museum’s internationally acclaimed Tiffany collection comprises of a number of impressive holdings, including the dazzling set of Tiffany’s famed leaded-glass windows, extensive examples of his paintings and pottery, glass buttons, jewelry, enamels, lamps, furniture, watercolors, and certain examples of his Favrile blown glass. The major attraction in the Tiffany Collection is the wonderfully restructured chapel, which was built by Tiffany for the World’s Columbian Exposition at Chicago in 1893. This 24 ft (7.32 m) tall chapel is best known for its Byzantine-Romanesque architectural elements, mosaics, furnishings, and brilliantly colored windows.

The Museum holds more than 800 pieces, including 300 Rook-wood pieces, in its 19th century American Art Pottery collection. Its furniture collection features works by Emile Galle, Gustav Stickley, and Louis Majorelle. The Sculpture collection, on the other hand, comprises of impressive works by Hiram Powers, John Rogers, Daniel Chester French, and Thomas Crawford. The Museum’s extraordinary collection of American paintings and prints includes works by Thomas Doughty, Samuel F.B. Morse, Arthur B. Davies, and Samuel Colman.
