Cocoa Beach, situated on a barrier island, just south of Cape Canaveral on Florida’s Central East Coast (Space Coast), is a premier residential community and a popular tourist destination in the state. The city is also well known for its recreational opportunities. It is home to a number of surfing champions and is widely recognized as the surfing capital of the East Coast. Other outdoor recreational activities in the area include kayaking, swimming, and wildlife-watching. Cocoa Beach is also home to a 27-hole golf course and a number of elegant restaurants, shopping stores, and bars. Ron Jon Surf Shop is a major point of tourist interest in the city.
