International Space Station Center

international space station center

The International Space Station (ISS) is a research facility presently being convened in space. The on-orbit assembly of ISS started in the year 1998. This research facility is a joint venture of the space agencies of US, Russia, Europe, Japan, and Canada. As the space station moves in a low Earth orbit, at an altitude of 350-460 km (217-286 statute miles), it can often be viewed from Earth with a naked eye. ISS moves at an average speed of nearly 27,700 km (17,210 statute miles) per hour, thereby completing 15.77 orbits per day. ISS primarily aims at providing a place to conduct experiments, which necessitate one or more of the atypical conditions maintained on the station.

The International Space Center is the most remarkable space program since the Apollo moon landings and also the largest, most sophisticated structure to be placed in Earth’s orbit. The ISS Center at Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida is one of the more popular tourist attractions in the Complex. It gives the guests a unique opportunity to climb aboard the International Space Station! This intriguing facility offers an up-close glimpse of the facility, where NASA actually organizes the real components of the International Space Station.

The International Space Station Center features a full-scale replica of the ‘Habitation Module’. Here, visitors can have a close look at the facilities used by the Space Station crewmembers for living, working, and sleeping. The Center also houses an elevated observation room, which faces the real processing bay where each Space Station component is processed, checked out, and prepared for its trip into the orbit. The ISS Center at KSC, Florida offers a great experience and is certainly worth a visit.
