Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour

kennedy space center bus tour

The Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour is the best way to get most out of the visit to KSC. Buses depart every 15 minutes from the Visitor Complex, and guests are allowed to get on and off the bus wherever they wish. The bus fare is included with the admission fee. The first stop of the bus tour is the Launch Complex 39 Observation Gantry, which offers a breathtaking view of the two major Space Shuttle launch pads. The bus tours also take the guests to a number of sites where shuttles are assembled and launched, as well as to the building where components of the International Space Station are built.

The buses take the visitors to all the main attractions and buildings of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The Apollo/Saturn V Center stimulates the environment in the firing room during the launch of America's first lunar mission, 1968's Apollo VIII. Lunar Surface Theater, on the other hand, features recordings of landing on the moon from Apollo XI. The bus tour also takes visitors past a number of impressive exhibits, including Robot Scouts, a walk-through exhibit that commemorates the contribution made by the unmanned planetary probes; Early Space Exploration display, featuring the significant Mercury and Gemini space programs; and the Exploration in the New Millennium display, which gives the visitors a unique opportunity to see and touch an authentic chunk of Mars that fell to the Earth as a meteorite.

Other major stops of the KSC Bus Tour include the outdoor Rocket Garden, the Astronaut memorial, and the IMAX Theater Complex. After circling the Vehicle Assembly Building, most buses stop only at the Apollo/Saturn V Center. These bus tours help the visitors to explore an amazing area, featuring history-making technology, huge rockets, towering launch pads, and stretches of Florida wildlife. Other special guided-tours, such as the NASA Up-Close Tour and the Cape Canaveral: Then & Now Tour, are led by space program experts who take the guests deeper into the major operations of KSC.

  • Hours of Operation: Runs approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours; Tours start at 10 AM and run continuously every 15 minutes. Last tour departs as early as 2:15 PM at some times in the year.
