Kissimmee, the principal city of the Orlando-Kissimmee, Florida, MSA, is included in the Osceola County, Florida. Situated on the northwest shore of West Lake Toho, the beautiful city of Kissimmee was established as Allendale in the mid-19th century. It was given its current name in 1883, when it was incorporated. The growth and development of Kissimmee in the subsequent years is credited to Philadelphian Hamilton Disston.
Today, Kissimmee is one of the prime tourist destinations in Florida. The major tourist attraction in the city is the Osceola Heritage Park. This spectacular park serves as a primary event facility and is home to the Osceola County Stadium, a professional sports stadium, and the Silver Spurs Arena, a state-of-art concert arena. The popular Silver Spurs Arena plays host to a number of acts, ranging from an annual rodeo event to Hillary Duff and Bob Dylan. Kissimmee is also home to a number of golf courses and an exciting, 650-person capacity outdoor water park.
Another major attraction in the city is the ‘Loop’, a huge outdoor shopping mall at John Young and Osceola Parkways, situated on the Orange/Osceola County line. This mall houses numerous stores, including Kohl’s, Best Buy, and ‘American Eagle’, and a multiplex theater. Besides, Kissimmee is just a short drive away from the Walt Disney Theme Parks. Kissimmee has a lot to offer to its visitors and is a perfect holiday destination for people of all ages.
