The Robot Scouts at the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida, is a wonderful walk-through exhibit that commemorates NASA’s unsung heroes, the unmanned planetary robot probes. This exhibit aims at introducing the visitors to the robotic planetary probes, which are the vanguards of human exploration into space. These robotic probes are NASA’s first and most far-reaching space explorers. The most informative and humorous guide of ‘Robot Scouts’ is the ‘Starquester 2000’, a robot temporarily grounded by a faulty navigational system. It offers the guests a brief overview of the recent unmanned space exploration missions.
As the visitors saunter along a twisting, murky corridor, they are offered a quick overview of the Voyager, Viking, Cassini, and other missions, as well as the Hubble Space Telescope at six different windows. The Robot Scouts endeavor to discover and explain in general how the universe works, if life exists elsewhere in the solar system, and whether humans can survive on other planets and moons in the Universe.
Robot Scouts memorializes the amazing discoveries that have been made in the last few decades by these remote-controlled robots, better known as the “trailblazers for human exploration”. Robot Scouts not only look forward to a human existence on planet Mars but also emphasize on the fact that unmanned space exploration will continue to be a standard operating procedure for the foreseeable future. This attraction offers an enjoyable experience for the whole family through humor and creative story lines and is a ‘must-see’ for those who visit the Center.
