Rollins College, situated along the shores of Lake Virginia, on the southern side of downtown Winter Park, Florida, is a liberal arts college currently presided over by Lewis Duncan. Established in 1885 by New England Congregationalists, this college is considered to be the oldest recognized college in Florida. Today, it has over 1700 undergraduate students and is an integral member of the Associated Colleges of the South. The campus encompasses a total area of nearly 70 acres (28 hectares), featuring a wide range of facilities, including the Alfond Sports Center, the Cornell Campus Center, and a theater for performing arts.
Rollins College is home to three schools, which offers students a variety of programs-the Crummer Graduate School of Business, the Hamilton Holt School, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The College of Arts and Science offers as many as 28 undergraduate majors and a number of other inter-disciplinary programs. The Hamilton Holt School, on the other hand, offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in a variety of majors, and several graduate programs, including Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education, Master of Education in Elementary Education, Master of Liberal Studies, and Master of Human Resources. Crummer Graduate School of Business offers a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 4 different programs, as well as a Management and Executive Education program.
Other special programs offered at Rollins include an Honors Degree program, an Accelerated Management Program (AMP), Rollins College Conference, and International programs. A major attraction at the College Campus is the magnificent Peace Memorial. It was built in 1938 and was dedicated on the Armistice Day by the then college president, Hamilton Holt. Other tourist attractions on the Rollins Campus include the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, featuring works of art and objects from antiquity to the twenty first century; and the Knowles Memorial Chapel, which has been listed on National Register of Historic Places.
