Ron Jon Surf Shop, situated on the Banana River Boulevard in Cocoa Beach, Florida, was established by Ron DiMenna in 1961. The first Ron Jon retail store was founded in Ship Bottom, New Jersey. Later, a chain of stores was established in Cocoa Beach, Florida; Key West, Florida; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Orange, California; and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. These Ron Jon retail stores specialize in body-boarding and surfing equipments. The chain of stores also operate a Ron Jon Surf-park in Orlando, Florida; the Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort in Cape Canaveral, Florida; three stores in Canada; a store in Cozumel, Mexico; and several other airport-based locations.
The Ron Jon Surf Shop at Cocoa Beach, Florida is currently the largest surfing shop in the world. It is considered to be a surfing Mecca and one of the most-frequented attractions in the state of Florida. This magnificent blue, yellow, turquoise, and orange art deco surf palace encompasses over 52,000 sq ft (4830.8 sq-m), featuring a glass elevator and a spectacular waterfall. The store holds a huge selection of bikinis, boards, plenty of souvenirs, surf-brand clothing, beach & surf gear, resort wears and the internationally acclaimed Ron Jon T-shirt.
Ron Jon Surf Shop is also a great place to watch the Space shuttle and rocket launches on the Space Coast. This shop is a favorite with bands, surf stars, as well as school groups. It offers ample parking space and is situated next to the famous rotating sign at the corner of Roads 520 and A1A. Ron Jon Surf Shop at Cocoa Beach is a “must-see” for all the surfing aficionados.
